Makeup products that disappointed me…

Hello everyone! Yesterday I was going through my makeup drawers and I saw a few products that I hadn’t used in a while. This happened mainly because I didn’t like the formula or longevity of them. So I decided to get them all out of my drawers and write a blog post explaining why I don’t like these products.

The Body Shop Matte Clay Skin Clarifying foundation: I reviewed this foundation on my blog before, so if you have read that one you will know that it didn’t last that long on my oily skin. It started separating after only a couple of hours and I just didn’t like the way it looked on my skin in general. If you want to read more about my thoughts on this foundation, make sure you have a look at my review here!

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid lipsticks: The one in the picture is in the shade “50 Nude Thrill”, which is a little bit too light for my personal liking, but I used to have another shade as well and I don’t like the formula of these lipsticks at all. They don’t seem to dry down to a matte finish and they look streaky when I apply them on my lips. Not trying to bash Maybelline’s products, but these are probably the worst “matte” liquid lipsticks that I have ever used.

Bourjois Healthy Mix concealer: I had high hopes for this concealer since I had already fallen in love with the Healthy Mix foundation. But no matter what foundation I use with this concealer or whatever method of application I utilized, it keeps emphasizing the dry patches underneath my eyes. Also, the coverage of this concealer doesn’t blow me away. It barely covers up my dark circles and acne scars.

Essence My Must Haves eyeshadow in “11 stay in coral bay”: I really don’t get along with this particular eyeshadow by Essence. At first it looked like it would have some golden specks in it, but after using it once it became clear that the golden specks were just put on top of the eyeshadow and disappeared after one use. It’s incredibly chalky and has barely any pigment to it. I have some other shades of this range that I like, but this one was a big disappointment for me.

Bourjois Push Up Volume Glamour mascara – ultra black edition: This is probably the most expensive and the worst masacara I own. The bristles on the brush don’t grasp my lashes that well and as a result my lashes don’t look that great with this mascara. I wore it one day when I went to one of my classes and by the time I got there my mascara was literally ev-er-y-where. I had to walk around all day looking like Kung Fu Panda and trust me, that’s not a look you want to go for..

Makeup Revolution Amazing lipstick in “Nude”: I love Makeup Revolution, but this lipstick is definitely not my favorite. It’s not very smooth to apply and it looks a little weird on my lips. The formula is also a tiny bit too sheer for my liking. I find that I have to apply layer upon layer to make this look somewhat opaque but it looks really patchy on my lips so this gets a big no from me.

That’s it for this round of makeup products that disappointed me. If you like these kinds of posts, please let me know and I’ll make more of them in the future!

Have you  already tried out these products? If so, what was your experience with them?

xoxo

Oh man I am in love with products from The Body Shop so hearing how disappointing this product was sucks! But of course brands always have products that don’t work so well. I read that you have their primer. How does the primer work for you?

I used to use the Bourjois foundation, but my skin is just too dry so it used to cling onto my dry patches even though it said that it had moisturising ingredients in it!! 😦 x
